Summer Haiku, SLJ task (Activity 1: Kick start activity)

Activity 1 (kick start activity)

Task description: For my, Summer Haiku kick start task, I had to create a Summer Haiku, the haiku has three lines with a certain number of syllables that is very important for making a haiku, the first line of syllables in my haiku has five syllables, my second line has seven syllables and lastly my third line has five syllables, Creating this Haiku the theme was summer, and butterflies just reminded me of a normal sunny day, so that's where I have gotten my idea and inspiration for this Haiku.

Optical Illusion SLJ

Today for the summer learning journey the task I have done was the Optical Illusion task where I had to create a drawing of an Optical Illusion, the picture I drew is a 3D Optical Illusion inspired by other ones that are similar to this Optical illusion with nonstop turns that tricks peoples minds, this task was very interesting and fun and I enjoyed doing this task.

 

Tanerore, Kowhaiwhai SLJ task

For my summer learning journey task today I had to create a drawing of a Kowhaiwhai pattern and use colors that remind me of Tanerore who is the son of Tama-Nui-te-ra in Maori and is a personification for shimmering air, the colors I used to color the background of the Kowhaiwhai is colors similar to orange because it reminds me of the shimmering sun which is what I am trying to represent in the Kowhaiwhai I have drawn, this task was very interesting and I enjoyed doing this task today.

 

Lazer cutting ornament!

Today I have recieved my lazer cutted ornament I have designed this term, the shape is a heart with my mums first names letter with ribbon at the top so it could be hung on a tree, I enjoyed doing this project so I can gift it to my mum for christmas.

Art Expo!

 Since the theme and korero for this term is Art Alive, we have been actually doing and looking at different types of art, this morning we had our schools Art Expo so all the art work we have done throughout this whole term was displayed in our classes for the school to see, Every piece of artwork we saw today was truley amazing and it was very entertaining walking through all the classes and looking at what they have done this term, since we are the oldest students and the intermediate block we had to look at all the juniors artworks and see what they have done this term.

The classes we have went in where from team 4 to 1 and all their art was very pleasing, In team 4 their art work were very cultural and looked like traditional polynesion patterns, then next where team 1, 2 and three their artworks were quite similar and all their art works where very colourful, lively and looked very fun.

My favourite part and highlight from the Art Expo was walking through my team the intermediate block because we had a lot of interesting art works with different styles and themes from every class and it was outstanding that each class had different focuses that were inspired by famous well known artist we have studied about this term in our inquiry classes and actually used their style of art to create are own.

Term 4 Art alive animation (gallery)

 

This term the theme is Art Alive and for our animations this term for team 5 we had to make a gallery with three different pictures we have drawn and draw ourselves walking around the gallery and talking about the three diferent artworks, Enjoy my animation.

Pastel Artwork

For my art project for the past few weeks I had to create a pastel drawing of anything I liked this task was based on a famous artists artworks we where inspired by this term (Edvard Munch) it was very fun and I enjoyed making and creating this pience of artwork.

My artwork is a landscape pastel drawing of a nature themed scene,My artwork is a drawing of a green field of flowers with a beach with big beach rocks on the left side of the drawing, a few mountains in the background and sunset without a sun.

For the field I used different types of green to give it a natural nature kind of look and pink flowers to make it pop from the green, the emotion that I tried to get from the colours I used for the field was a calm relaxed, lazy type of emotion.

For the beach part of the drawing I used different types of blues and added some other colours like green and a hint of purple to give it a anxious and sort of enraged emotion to it.

And lastly for the sky and mountains I have used a mixture of cool and warm bold colours to give it a dolefulness and gloomy emotion.

 

SLJ Week-1 Demo task

  

Today in literacy I did a demo task for summer learning journey, for my task I had to go on the art colouring book website and then chose a famous art work so I could re colour it and make my own by changing up the colours and making it look different, This task was interesting and I enjoyed doing this task today.

This morning I got my duffy book!

This book is called "Prisoner B-3087" which is a novel by "Alan Gratz" and is a novel based on a true story by Ruth and Jack Gruener,

Kiwi kids news read off!

For Reading in Literacy today My task was to find and read two Articles from Kiwi kids news and then answer the following questions about the artical. This task was fun and I enjoyed doing this task.

 

Rolling Dice!

Today for maths my task was to use an online dice roller to roll 2 dices 24 times, and then when I did that I had to collect how many times I rolled a double out of the 24 times I rolled and how many rolls is it likely to take to get a double, This task was interesting and easy and I enjoyed doing this task.

 

Pop Art

Today for Art we I had to cut out an image four times different colours and stick them on one corner of the paper that is a different colour of the image we made, My shape was a flame that has a smaller one in the inside so people will know what it is, it was very fun and I enjoyed doing this task.

 

The scream drawing!

Today in our inquiry class we were focussing on art and for our art we had to draw the famous art work "The scream" with pastels and it didn't have to be perfect, when I drew I added mixtures of colours in lines and curves to form my picture and version of the scream, this was very fun and I enjoyed drawing and blending and being creative with colours.

Who is Kate sheppard? Kate sheppard is a well known and famous women suffragist that has influenced many people and is recognised for her fight for women’s right to vote here in New zealand, Kate shepard (Real name katherine wilson sheppard) is an emigrate who emigrated from england to new zealand and was born in 1847 and died in 1934, This essay will tell you a lot about who kate sheppard is, why she has started this protest, what she did, and the effect it has on our country and world that has changed in our society today.

Why did Kate Sheppard do this? In the 1800s women did not have a proper role or part in the society and women were strictly restricted for many things, For example in the 1800s women were not allowed to open a bank account or sell their land without the permission of their father or husband, Kate Sheppard was against these rules and believed that women did have a right and role in the society and world, Now you know why kate Sheppard did this and the the cause it had in our society to make it a grater world where women were equal with men and have the right to vote.

What did Kate Sheppard do? Kate Sheppard was very talented and used her knowledge and talent to lead and start a champaign and petition, For example Kate sheppard traveled around New zealand and other countries around the world to influence women with her plan to have the right for women to vote and started a petition that is signed by numerous individuals which will be given and addressed to the government as a request to do something that is commonly for change, Kate Sheppard needed the support to have her plan work so it took over six years for her plan to work and when it did New zealand became known as the first country for women to vote, Now you know how and what kate Sheppard did I hope her leadership and braveness will inspire you to fight for what you believe in.

The effect her petition had in our country. In 1993 she got nearly 32, 000 individuals sign her petition and was finally accepted and passed as a law in new zealand that women had the right to vote, for example Kate Sheppard nearly got 32, 000 people to sign her petition that had a great impact on our society and gave women the right to vote, and because of Kate sheppard's talent and leadership she has changed the world, Now you know the effect her petition had in our country and how it had taken years for it to work it was all worth it at the end.

Now today because of Kate Sheppard's talent and leadership with the help of other women and people, she has has became an inspiration towards people around the world and has made new zealand known for the first country in the world to have the right for women to vote, Now you have it Kate sheppard is a legend and has changed New zealand to this day.

Alberto Giacometti

Today for our last art rotation of learning about different artists, My task for today was to pick two interesting sculptures from the a famous artist "Alberto Giacometti" and write down a little information about it and write what I liked about these two sculptures from Alberto Giacometti, this task was interesting and I enjoyed learning about Alberto Giacometti and some of his famous art works.

 

Probability Whats in the bag?

Today for maths Our task was to find a partner and get a box and fill it with 6 blocks that are 2 different colours and then switch boxe's with another group and what we had to do with that box was randomly pick and put back in eight blocks and write how many of the two colours of blocks we did, and write our findings and prediction on the next slide and finally write our fraction for our blocks, It was fun and I  enjoyed doing this task.

 

Amazing algebra

Today for mathst I had to finish of my maths task, For my task I did Algebra and I learnt how to find out rules for patterns and also make graphs for my work, lastly for my task I had to answer division and multiplication problems, this task was fun and I enjoyed learning Algebra.

Yesterday for my 5th art rotation for inquiry we learnt about a famous photographer named "Sebatiao salgado an dfor my task I had to find two photos that he took and right what I liked about it after that I had to go take photos of nature and write what I like about it, it was vey fun and I enjoyed doing this task.

 Today in inquiry for my sixth art rotation we learnt about a famous artist named "Georges Seurat" and for our task we had to make a poster about him with the facts that we have leart durring our rotation, this task was very fun and I enjoyed learninh interesting facts about Georges Seurat.

Slavery sittuation Anti-slavery summery

Today I read a text called "Railroad to Freedom" it was about the slave situation the story of Harriet Tubman and Thomas Garrett.

My Summary of The slavery situation:

In southern USA slavery was a very big situation around the 1800s, Slaves were owned and forced to work long hours and if they refused they would be punished by their owners. And also in the 1800s people started to go against slavery and began campaigns to end Slavery and slave owners were the complete opposite and wanted to fight to keep their slaves.

In the 1800s an organisation was created to help slaves escape their owners to safe houses around the north of the USA and Canada. In the year 1861 the american civil war started and the slavery situation was no longer a big deal, Later after the war has ended between the union Army of the south and the north finally surrenderd It has became official that slavery was now against the law in the year 1865 and in the year 1863 2 years ago that it was declared by former President Abraham Lincoln that slaves were now free.
