Summer Haiku, SLJ task (Activity 1: Kick start activity)

Activity 1 (kick start activity)
Task description: For my, Summer Haiku kick start task, I had to create a Summer Haiku, the haiku has three lines with a certain number of syllables that is very important for making a haiku, the first line of syllables in my haiku has five syllables, my second line has seven syllables and lastly my third line has five syllables, Creating this Haiku the theme was summer, and butterflies just reminded me of a normal sunny day, so that's where I have gotten my idea and inspiration for this Haiku.

Note: Activity 2: step it up task will be on a separate post.

  1. Kia Ora Laolao,

My name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the Summer Learning Journey.

I really enjoyed this haiku activity as I love to read poetry and I think haikus are a very fun form of poetry with their syllable rules and simplicity.

You introduced this activity and explained what a haiku is very well. Your haiku is well written, you followed the 5, 7, 5 syllable rule well.. I think your theme is very relevant to summer. It is prime butterfly time. When I was at school during the last term we had almost all of our caterpillars emerge as butterflies, it was really beautiful seeing all the monarch butterflies flying around outside the classroom.

What was your inspiration for this haiku? And may I encourage you to step up your work by writing two more haikus and even include a clip of you reading them aloud.

Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of your posts over the summer.

    Ngā mihi nui,
    Zana Yates

    2. Hi Laolao,
Nature is always a great inspiration for poetry and writing. What kind of butterfly was it? I am looking forward to reading more of your haikus once you post them.

I thought your Haiku was absolutely amazing (WAY better than mine to be honest.)Your words made me contemplate hard about Summer and the little things that follow it, because when I think of Summer I think about the Pools and cold food like Ice-blocks.When I read this it made my think of the little things in life. What do you think of when you hear the word Summer?
Thats it from me, thanks for making me really think about Summer and what it brings.

    Sincerely by Alamoni.
